Tushima, in Boston, contacted me back in March about her wedding at The DoubleTree Hotel, Boston/Bedford Glen. Rajeev was in Louisiana. I was eager to meet them but it was logistically impossible. So, we just decided to get on the phone and do a three-way conference call.
After getting to know me and my work, Tushima and Rajeev agreed that I should be their wedding photographer. I arrived at their Sangeet and was immediately greeted at the door by their families. While Tushima and Rajeev sat on their swing, they watched with glee the dance performances their friends and family had carefully choreographed for them. Then the big surprise: Tushima was going to do a special dance for Rajeev! The night closed with some awesome food and a good bit of dancing.
The next day was the day of the wedding. Tushima looked stunning in her outfit and Rajeev was absolutely regal in his. The outdoor venue, exquisitely decorated by Shobha Shastry of Alankar: Event & Wedding Planners & Decorators, was just perfect. The sunny day cast a natural glow around the mandap. Tushima arrived in a dholi and Rajeev's expression was priceless.
When friends and family converged into the reception hall, they were met by the subdued ambiance of blue walls and the mellow beats of DJ Volcanik. The serene atmosphere lasted through dinner and then the dance floor lit up. Remember Tushima and Rajeev know how to dance. I saw that at the Sangeet and expected nothing less at their reception. More than that what I was looking for were those stolen glances they gave each other and I think I captured the night just as they experienced it. |
